WHERE ARE BABYPYKE SUNGLASSES MADE?

BabyPyke sunglasses were created and designed in Belgium, specifically in Wallonia.
They are manufactured and assembled in the French-speaking part of Belgium, with the exception of the lenses, which are cut in Italy (by our German partner, Carl Zeiss). This is because Pyke found the highest quality lenses in Italy.

WHAT DOES THE MARKING MEAN ON THE INSIDE OF BABYPYKE LENSES?

The laser engraving found on the lens depicts two overlapping Zs. It is the trademark "Z" for Zeiss, Pyke’s partner.

This subtle marking on each lens guarantees that you have purchased genuine BabyPyke sunglasses fitted with genuine Zeiss lenses. It is also proof that your BabyPyke sunglasses have successfully passed every step of the Zeiss quality control process.

DO BABYPYKE SUNGLASSES MEET THE EUROPEAN STANDARDS ON PROTECTION OF THE PERSON?

Pyke attaches the utmost importance to the protection that its products provide and product quality.

Therefore, BabyPykes meet European standards on sunglasses.

ARE BABYPYKE SUNGLASSES REVERSIBLE?

Unlike many other children’s sunglasses sold by other manufacturers, BabyPyke sunglasses are not reversible.

Bearing in mind the need to have the glasses perfectly fit the contours of a child's face, it is our view that making our glasses reversible is inadvisable. Therefore, you should make certain that the frame is on the right way.

WHICH WAY SHOULD I PUT BABYPYKE SUNGLASSES ON?

To find how which way BabyPyke glasses should be worn, examine the frame and refer to the directions for use in the package insert, which we enclose below.

Tips:

  • For the frame: look at the bridge: the most scalloped side is the part that rests on the nose and fits to its shape.
  • For the headband: the direction of the markings inside the frame (BabyPyke, the CE mark, etc.) tell you which way to position the headband.

FOR WHAT AGE BRACKETS ARE BABYPYKES APPROPRIATE?

BabyPyke sunglasses were created and designed for children between the ages of 0 and 3.

However, based on their head circumference, some older children can wear them.

The allowable head circumference for our product ranges from 41 to 50 cm. If you child’s head circumference is within this range, BabyPyke may be suitable for him or her.

WHAT MATERIALS WERE USED TO MAKE BABYPYKE SUNGLASSES?

Pyke assigns great important to the selection of the materials used for BabyPyke sunglasses.

The lenses, supplied by our partner, Zeiss, are made of polyamide and were specially designed to protect children from 0 to 4 years of age.

The frames and the headband are made of a polymer selected for its performance qualities:

  • food-grade grade plastic, and therefore no harm if the sunglasses get in a child’s mouth;
  • chlorine-resistant;
  • salt-resistant;
  • sweat-resistant;
  • heat-resistant (up to 80°C);
  • resistant to stretching, twisting and tearing.

DOES LENS CATEGORY 3 LENS OFFER MY CHILD OPTIMUM PROTECTION?

Don't confuse the protection category with the degree of protection. Although a tinted lens prevents glare, it does not necessarily filter out the most harmful rays, even with the darkest tints. It will block visible radiation and prevent glare but if it is not filter glass, it will not block invisible UV rays, which are harmful to the eyes.

Therefore, a filter able to absorb all UV rays must be added to the lens.

Sunglasses, which provide substantial protection against UV rays even if of a lesser category, are the best way to protect our eyes.

Category 3 is the second highest protective category, “providing a high level of sun glare reduction”. A lens is considered to be Category 3 when the light transmission is between 8 and 18%.

Category 4, the highest level of protection, is defined as suitable for exceptionally intense solar radiation such as at sea, on snowy terrain, in high mountains or in the desert.

Light transmission for a Category 4 lens must be less than 8%.

According to Pyke and studies conducted by Zeiss in partnership with the Pacific University of Oregon (Dr. A.W. Reichow at his team), protective Category 3 is best for children for two reasons:

  • The level of protection is high;
  • The Category 3 light transmission of BabyPyke lenses is 9.88%.

AT WHAT AGE SHOULD I START PROTECTING MY CHILD FROM THE SUN’S RAYS?

Children’s eyes are more sensitive than those of adults because they are still developing. It is therefore crucial to protect the eyes of your children from early on. BabyPykes can be worn by children starting at the age of 1. (For more information, see our “Health” page).

Care and After-Sales Service

HOW DO I CLEAN MY BABYPYKES?

Clean your BabyPykes with clean water and mild soap and gently dry with a soft cloth. Furthermore, we recommend that you clean the lenses with the lens cloth provided when you purchased your BabyPykes.

Never use detergents, solvents, petroleum-based products, corrosives and their derivatives to clean any part of your sunglasses. Avoid scratching the lenses.

To extend the life of your sunglass, we recommend that you store and carry your BabyPykes in their original case and keep them in a dry place.

WHAT DO I DO IF I BREAK MY BABYPYKES?

We have designed BabyPykes to resist breakage:

  • soft yet resistant plastic materials;
  • shatter-proof polyamide lenses mounted into the frame using a special manufacturing process;
  • sturdy plastic fasteners integrated into the headband.

It is therefore very unlikely that your BabyPyke sunglasses will break under normal conditions of use.

However, should you have any problems with your BabyPykes, contact our Customer Service Department using the on-line form. WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

Pyke provides the widest range of payment solutions possible while simultaneously offering robust protection of your personal data and high transaction security.

Pyke works with Ogone/Ingenico for its on-line payment solutions.

The payment methods accepted are:

  • Credit cards: Visa & MasterCard ;
  • Maestro ;
  • Bancontact/MisterCash : via Belfius Bank, CBC/KBC, and ING;
  • Paypal.

CAN I PAY BY BANK TRANSFER?

We are currently unable to accept payment by bank transfer. Shipments are handled instantly and automatically by our software and our logistics service provider as soon as your on-line order is completed.

CAN I REVIEW MY ORDER?

Yes, you can review your order at any time by going to your Customer Account (My Account/My Orders).

Replacements and Accessories

IF I LOSE THE HEADBAND OR IF I WANT TO BUY A DIFFERENT COLOR, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Currently headbands are not sold separately from the frames.

However, if you have lost your headband or want to buy a headband in a different colour, you can contact our Customer Service Department using the contact form at our web site after accurately selecting the Message subject most relevant to your query. If at all possible, we will do our best to find a solution to satisfy you.

I LOST MY CONTAINER/CASE. CAN I GET A NEW ONE?

Currently containers/cases are not sold separately.

However, if you would like an additional container/case, you can contact our Customer Service Department using the contact form at our web site after accurately selecting the Message subject most relevant to your query. If at all possible, we will do our best to find a solution to satisfy you.

I WOULD LIKE BABYPYKES FITTED WITH CORRECTIVE LENSES. IS THAT POSSIBLE?

Currently BabyPykes are not sold with corrective lenses.

But if you want corrective lenses for your BabyPykes, you can talk to our Customer Service Department using the contact form at our web site. If there is a marketplace demand for it, we may begin R&D to develop a frame for corrective lenses.

Shipping and Returns

WHAT SHIPPING METHOD DO YOU USE?

Pyke has selected Amazon as its logistics provider to ensure premium quality shipping and returns plus outstanding responsiveness.

WHAT IS THE TIMEFRAME FOR DELIVERY?

Pyke has selected Amazon as its logistics provider to ensure the best service available for delivery.

It takes 3 to 5 days for deliveries within the EU and Switzerland depending on the date the order was placed and the shipping address.

WILL I GET A TRACKING NUMBER?

A tracking number will be sent to you via e-mail when you receive confirmation that your order has shipped. You can also find this number in the Customer Account area (My Account/My Orders/Shipments).

There is a chance a tracking number may be missing for reasons owing to our service provider.

In this case, if you would like information on your shipment, you can contact our Customer Service Department using the on-line form. Fill in the fields provided and select the relevant Message subject from the drop-down menu. We’ll receive you query and respond to you as soon as possible.

DO YOU SHIP WORLDWIDE?

Your purchases can be delivered to any country in the European Union or Switzerland from the different Pyke web sites. Below is a list of countries where we can ship your purchases as well as a listing of Pyke websites from which you can ship to these countries.

We make it a policy to limit the number of other countries to which we ship on-line purchases to avoid extra shipping charges to our customers.

However, if you want to ship a purchase to a country that does not appear on the list below, contact our Customer Service Department using the on-line form. Fill in the fields provided and select the relevant Message subject from the drop-down menu. We’ll receive you query and respond to you as soon as possible.

HOW MUCH DOES SHIPPING COST?

Pyke can ship any order to the member states of the European Union and to Switzerland.

This is our contribution to protecting your children’s eyes.

Contact our Customer Service Department using the on-line form if you wish to ship our products to other countries. Fill in the fields provided and select the relevant Message subject from the drop-down menu. We’ll receive you query and respond to you as soon as possible. We’ll then send you a shipping charge estimate.

WHO PAYS THE COSTS OF RETURNS?

The costs of returns are paid by the customer unless related to the exercise of the warranty or to the shipping of a replacement product, the costs of which are paid by Pyke.

WHAT IS YOUR RETURNS POLICY?

Pyke adheres to applicable European Union legislation.

You have a period of 14 days starting from the day you take physical possession of the product in which to notify us that you wish to return your purchase. You will then have an additional 14-day period in which to ship your purchase back to us.

As soon as we receive the purchase and have it inspected by our product team, we will fully reimburse you for the price of your purchase. To meet our acceptance criteria, the returned product must be sent back to us with no parts missing and in perfect condition (in the original condition).

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET REIMBURSED IF I MAKE A RETURN?

Your purchase arrives at Receiving. We then inspect it and review your claim for reimbursement (See the terms and conditions here). As soon as your claim for reimbursement is approved, we’ll return your money as quickly as possible. As a general rule, you should receive your reimbursement within 7 to 15 business days from the date you returned your purchase.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO MAKE A RETURN?

To make a return, you must first notify us that you plan to do so by using the on-line form.

You should place the whole purchase (frame, headband, lens cleaning cloth, instructions and wrapping) back in the original container (or a box providing adequate production against damage during shipping) along with the duly completed Returns Form that you received with your original purchase. HOW DO I GET REIMBURSED?

For reimbursements, there are several options available depending on the payment method:

  • By direct credit to your MasterCard or Visa card;
  • By direct credit to your bank account if you used Maestro, Bancontact/MisterCash or through your bank;
  • By PayPal;
  • By bank transfer.

We will either use your original payment method or we’ll contact you to propose a different reimbursement method.

Warranty

ARE THE LENSES GUARANTEED AGAINST SCRATCHES?

Only manufacturing defects are covered by our 2-year warranty.

WHAT DOES THE WARRANTY COVER AND FOR HOW LONG?

BabyPykes carry a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects, namely:

  • Lens defects;
  • Defective materials used in the frame, the headband or the fasteners, such as:
    • Discolouration;
    • Poor quality;
    • etc

Alterations to the product caused by incorrect use are not covered by the warranty.

DOES THE WARRANTY COVER THEFT OR BREAKAGE?

The BabyPyke warranty does not cover theft, breakage if unrelated to a manufacturing defect or breakage due to improper use.
